Puerto Vallarta is a stunning Mexican city settled on the Pacific Coast. Its history is very interesting. It was not always a famous place with beautiful beaches and amazing sunsets. It was more or less unknown to the public. After Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton decided to film a movie in Vallarta, and start their love affair there, the media has made the place well known, to the rest of the world.
Before it was famous, Puerto Vallarta’s main source of money was coming from fishing and exporting bananas and coconuts. But today, the place is booming with tourists, and tourism became the main source of income for the locals.
Easy access, tropical climate and the fact that it was named The Friendliest City in the World, make Puerto Vallarta attractive to anyone who wants to enjoy sandy beaches. There are many things to see and explore in Puerto Vallarta. Starting from the City Hall and Plaza the Arman, to many museums and Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
After you have finished the tour of the city, you must visit Beach of the Dead and Curly Shells Beach. If you are interested in Puerto Vallarta’s culture, there are festivals like Flower and Garden Festival or Electro Beach Puerto Vallarta, for the more adventurous. The city is filled with museums, boutiques and art galleries, which you can sightsee with a tour guide.
Other interesting activities include yacht cruises, snorkeling, fishing and many other. Visiting Puerto Vallarta can’t be finished without tasting their food specialties. That means trying tacos, burritos, ceviche, on the streets, or enjoying a perfect romantic meal on a beach, in one of the restaurants where you can order grilled mahi-mahi or Huachinango Sarandeado.
Transportation in this city is developed to the maximum. Even though many tourists arrive here by plane, you can also go on city tours by bus or city taxi. When it comes to water, you can choose whether you want to be on a yacht or boat cruise, or you would like to know what a water taxi feels like. Even though Puerto Vallarta is not as famous as bigger beach resorts in Mexico, its beauty and fascinating culture are a reason to pay it a visit.
