3. Bridger Bowl, Montana
Believe it or not, it is the only non-profit family focused ski area in the US. The locals like to keep it casual, it is never over crowded, with staff that is always in a friendly mood.
Ticket prices are affordable and there is a lot of places for dining. This is a nice place to take a break from the crowds and enjoy a place the locals call home. Locals are alerted when fresh snow has fallen with blue beacon that is located atop of the Baxter hotel in Bozeman downtown. It is activated when two inches of snow is accumulated. It never stopped working since 1988, except for two day in 2007. Bridger Bowl is truly stunning and definitely worth visiting.
